My watch for villain/ness story literally in our blood lol. In our t.v and movies in our country. We always have a t.v drama show where the protagonist is a Villain who fall from grace and goes to a revenge route to take back it's place.

One of my favourites is The Wicked Tale of Cinderella's Stepmom. As the title implies the female lead has reincarnated as the stepmom in the fairytale of Cinderella, but the story actually spends very little on said fairytale. In reality it's about a widowed woman in an aristocratic society trying to make sure her three daughters are well-taken care of in a world where noblewomen are not allowed to work and their only way of supporting themselves is through marriage. The characters are so amasingly layered and have realistic flaws, from the main family to the love interests, who in particular have flaws that make perfect sense for their standing and priviledge. The art is pretty like a picture book and is just a genuinely enjoyable read.

It's cute yet heartbreaking about the relationship who felt abandoned by the people she thought was important yet she feels very lonely and wants to have her quiet life rather death. I can't really spoiler it. It has good memories when I've read it-

Accomplishments of a Duke's Daughter was the OG. That got me into the villainess rabbit hole. Political Thriller, Romance, Kingdom Management, it has it all. But honestly though, I'm kinda tired of making the heroine the villain. That's why I love Magirevo and Beware the Villainess, heroines are heroines for a reason. With, that let me tell you my ideal villainess story: I want to have a sweeping villainess epic about enemies, to friends, to lovers with all the teenage angst and politicking in the midst of a nation that is a powder keg of revolution, and ending with the villainess sacrificing herself to save the heroine that she truly loved from the bottom of the heart, and then we see a code geass style montage where we see the cast of characters moving on and living their best lives and seeing a nation that is healing and rebuilding itself, and then we see another time skip where the heroine is a now a grandma sitting down her rocking chair and clutching to the ring that her love gave her before her demise. P.S. I want Melissa to step on me.

This is a lose-lose situation, which in the story and in real life I'd say needs to consider some more factors: 1) one's developmental capacity for emotions and decisions (as to judge if just or not), 2) one's capacity to effect change. The premise being that no living being is pure evil albeit full of flawed beliefs, misperceptions, and unskilfulness. So #1 includes the fact that one is capable of processing and therefore feeling and deciding upon certain things within a limited range based on our unique makeup and development - Hyakkimaru learning about love, rejection, joy, grief and having had a very very isolated upbringing with all the implications that come with that, then we can speculate/expand about each character in a comprehensive & compassionate light as to be most truthful/precise to their capacities and limitations. And #2 includes the fact that when the root issue is still there one's choices/actions to change superficial circumstances may be moot - The Moth Demon that protected a village in exchange of killing all children plus current travelers showcases this point as the villagers' root problems brought the whole village into flames. My take is that potentiality is relevant here, as in, full bellys are important but not more than one's internal world, if inside is rotten to the core I prefer to starve. It's not all about survival, and who we are in the hard times tells us a lot about ourselves - particularly when having time to think as opposed to reacting... who we consciously choose to be in harsh times defines us most. The collective of the village's dark emotions and unskilfulness burnt everyone including children who had no chance to see if they could develop better and effect change: would Dororo be to blame for the child's life or the villager who in a selfish rage tried to keep all the rice left for themselves? In this case, the villager, because Dororo couldn't foresee this and it wasn't Dororo's direct intention or flaw consequence. So i think same logic can be detailed for Hyakkimaru and his fam but i better finish this text. All the best ❤

im ngl that assumed scenario of a villainess being scorned by the male lead that became the premise of almost every villainess story? i cant name a single story ive read where that happened. the whole idea of the genre is supposedly subverting a seemingly popular trope but i can't remember an instance where said trope is ever used 😭

If you're at all open to reading danmei, I think you might really love Married Thrice to Salted Fish. It's not exactly a villainess story, but the reasons I like it and its main character so much are super similar to the reasons you enjoy villainess stories! It has a disenfranchised, mistreated main character whose relationship with the love interest is all but doomed from the start, but due to their scheming and the main character's ruthless proclivity for effective vengeance they're able to work towards pulling through and having the life they deserve together! Honestly, the main character really could be described as a villainess in the best way possible. Just thought I'd proselytize back for a moment. I'll definitely be checking out some of your villainess faves!

You’re me 😩 I love these villainess and reincarnation stories. Some a bit cliche but others, despite coming from the same starting point they can expand their world and trama in such a beautiful and crazy way it’s always exiting and intriguing wondering what kind of thing it’s hiding under its sleeve.

I think I might need help I literally already read all these… I personally really like dark plots with revenge and gore so one of my personal favourites is Your throne. Medea is just so badass and all the politics and stuff rly intrigues me. But I think I read too many villainess stories so I’m getting kind of bored of it and moved on to bl and action, where there are more different plots. So… yeah. But still, I personally really recommend reading your throne and also how to protect the female lead’s brother

Yo the peak is when we get the villianess is destine to die anime but it be hard to match that art quality.

My issue with the scene really is that he does nothing to restrain her while they are still alone in the room together. Euphemia struggles to stand before then announcing that she is off to kill all of the Japanese, and Lalouche is all "cool, let me just sit here and consider what's happening for a second, I'll catch up with you in 5 minutes." It would have been prudent to knock a bitch out at that moment.
